SHARP PROMOTED TO REGIONAL VP AT AEG
American Elevator Group (AEG) announced that Chuck Sharp has been promoted to regional vice president (VP). AEG observed Sharp "brings extensive experience to the table," having served as president of Lexington, Kentucky-headquartered DC Elevator for more than 30 years. SWANSON NAMED TSM FOR VANTAGE WESTERN REGION

15th SYMPOSIUM ON LIFT & ESCALATOR TECHNOLOGIES ISSUES SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
Organizers of the 15th Symposium on Lift & Escalator Technologies in Kettering, U.K., have issued a second call for papers. Abstracts of up to 300 words may be submitted by vertical-transportation professionals, academics and post-graduate students through March 31. Abstracts should state the authors' names, affiliations and email address, the title of the paper, the objectives, methodology employed, the main results and the conclusions of the research. Abstracts cannot include a product or service name, and advertorials will not be accepted. Providing an opportunity to share research and network, the symposium is scheduled on September 18-19 at Kettering Park Hotel & Spa.

INDIAN RAILWAYS: NEARLY 600 STATIONS ACCESSIBLE WITH LIFTS AND ESCALATORS
Indian Railways (IR) said 597 of its stations are accessible with lifts and escalators installed as part of the Accessible India Campaign, The Economic Times is among outlets to report. Through December 2023, 1,287 escalators had been installed at 372 stations, and 1,292 elevators had been installed at 497 stations. During the 2023 calendar year, 128 escalators and 227 elevators were installed. Read more here

MICHIGAN THEATRE PRIORITIZING ELEVATOR INSTALLATION
The top priority of the Historic Vogue Theatre of Manistee, Michigan, Board of Directors this year is to raise funds for an elevator installation, the Manistee News Advocate reports. Hodder & Partners has been given the green light for plans to demolish a former Primark building in the Sheffield, U.K., city center and replace it with a 40-story residential tower, Building Design reports. Fletcher Priest has been given the green light for a 24-story tower that will be partially cantilevered over a listed Victorian bath house in London, U.K., Building Design reports. A 22-story, 20-unit residential tower described by George Kouzoukas, co-founder of luxury fashion house Sabo and Zaco, as a "beach house in the sky" is planned in Broadbeach, Gold Coast, Australia, The Urban Developer reports. DESIGN UNVEILED FOR TIRANA, ALBANIA, TOWER
Portuguese architecture studio OODA recently unveiled its design for Hora Vertikale, a stacked tower with a clustered façade, "set to redefine" Tirana, Albania's skyline, designboom reports. The first phase of construction of the 140-m residential tower with an above-ground area of 55,000 m2 has been approved and is scheduled to begin next spring. With plans to source local materials for the structure, the architects at OODA placed a strong emphasis on sustainability.
