The 80-page program includes a complete schedule of events, exhibitor listings and details about special events. In an effort to be more eco-friendly, printed copies of the program will not be available. However, those signed up to receive NAEC emails will receive a "Know Before You Go" email this week containing information to help them prepare for the convention. The television station conducted an investigation in the wake of an August fire at the 22-story Kamper Stevens Apartments for senior citizens in which an 86-year-old woman died. Read more here TKE HANDLING MAJOR COLOGNE SUBWAY ESCALATOR MODERNIZATION TK Elevator (TKE) announced on September 17 it has been awarded a major escalator modernization contract to modernize numerous escalators serving subway stations in Cologne, Germany. The project includes 23 new victoria heavy-duty escalators and the MAX Internet of Things smart monitoring and digital technology solution to minimize maintenance and downtime. TKE observed its digital solutions were a key factor in public transportation authority Kƶlner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG (KVB) awarding it the contract. The project began in spring 2024 with the first escalator installed at the busy Neumarkt station in the heart of the city. The final escalator replacement is scheduled in spring 2027. Ater installation, TKE will handle maintenance of the new escalators. In response to allegations of purchasing the units at inflated prices, metro officials said the heavy-duty escalators ā designed to operate up to 20 h per day with a full load ā are significantly more expensive than standard models. Read more SKYTRAIN ESCALATOR PROJECT MOVES TO SECOND PHASE TransLink is reopening the Millennium Line escalators at CommercialāBroadway SkyTrain Station in Vancouver, Canada, on September 27. On the same day, the second phase of the escalator replacement project will begin on the north escalators, which connect to the Expo Line platforms. During construction, the staircase accompanying these escalators will also close for safety; the elevator will remain open. Alternate escalator, elevator and stair access to the Expo Line platforms will be available across the street on the south side of East Broadway Avenue. These escalators have been in operation for more than 20 years. The new escalators are more durable and feature variable speed to save power. They are also easier for staff to maintain and will minimize future downtime. This CAD10.5 million (US$7.7 million) project is funded through the TransLink Capital Program and is expected to be completed in fall 2025.
