AES ORLANDO TO HOST GRAND OPENING ON APRIL 21

GLOBAL TARDIF ENTERS NEXT PHASE OF GROWTH WITH OPERATOR-INVESTORS AND PE
Global Tardif (GT), a leading independent elevator manufacturer headquartered in the Quebec City, Canada, area, announced on April 2 it has entered its next phase of growth through a partnership with three operator-investors and private-equity (PE) firm Norea. MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC ACQUIRES IRELAND’S INFINITY LIFTS
Mitsubishi Electric Corp. announced it has agreed to wholly acquire the shares of Infinity Lifts Ltd., an Irish elevator company based in Ennis, effective March 18. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, subject to the approval of the necessary regulatory authorities and the fulfillment of other customary closing conditions. WARSAW METRO RENEWS MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH MP LIFTS
MP Lifts, a Spain-headquartered company with more than 1,200 employees and operations in over 100 countries worldwide, announced Warsaw Metro has renewed its maintenance contract. Covering nearly 200 lifts, escalators and platform systems, the initial contract was awarded in 2023 to MP Lifts' Poland branch. CECA ANNOUNCES UPCOMING MEETINGS AND EVENTS
The Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) announces upcoming meetings and events. On April 24 at 9 a.m. PST a Technical Safety BC townhall is planned at the Italian Cultural Center in Vancouver, with the CECA Western Region meeting, including a presentation by Delco Elevator Products, immediately following. The CECA Eastern Region Meeting is planned on May 6 at 5 p.m. EST at Royal Versailles in Montreal, Quebec. Finally, the CECA 52nd Annual Convention and Annual General Meeting is set for June 15-18 in Victoria, B.C.

Metro Elevator recently announced the launch of its Nevada division, headquartered in Las Vegas and being led by President Kevin Hanson and Vice President of Operations Jeff Quinn. TÜRKIYE’S AYSAD PARTICIPATES IN EXPORT WORKSHOP
Organized for the machinery and components sector, the “TİM – Workshop on the Sector Report for Enhancing Competitiveness in Exports, Phase One” was held with the participation of sector stakeholders at the TİM building in Istanbul, Türkiye, on March 12. ALIMAK CUSTOM GOODS ELEVATORS FOR ROYAL SWEDISH OPERA
Alimak Group tells ELEVATOR WORLD it engineered, manufactured and installed two purpose-built goods elevators for the Royal Swedish Opera’s new facility in Flemingsberg, Stockholm, Sweden. The contract was awarded by developer Fabege AB and construction company MVB. Including a 34-m elevator shaft, the 12,000-m2 structure serves as a décor workshop and rehearsal studio for the opera. JAPAN’S FUJITEC RECOGNIZED FOR PROMOTING WOMEN’S ADVANCEMENT
Fujitec, headquartered in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, announced on April 7 it has been recognized for the first time with a two-star Eruboshi Certification from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare for promoting women’s participation and advancement in the workplace. Companies receiving certification are evaluated on five criteria: recruitment, continuous employment, working hours and styles, ratio of women in management positions and career path diversity. Fujitec met three of these standards — working hours and styles, working hours and career path diversity — resulting in the two-star designation. “Moving forward, the company remains committed to creating an environment where the opinions of all employees are respected regardless of gender, nationality, age or disability,” Fujitec stated. “By fostering a workplace where every individual can work autonomously, we continue to embody the brand vision, ‘Moving freely, elevating lives.’”
CIA BOD RE-ELECTED DURING EVENT IN GERMANY
Members of the Board of Directors (BoD) of the Nuremberg, Germany-based nonprofit CAN in Automation (CiA) association were re-elected at the General Assembly during the recent CiA Member Days in Freising, Germany, CiA announced on April 2. NYC MTA UNVEILS THREE ELEVATORS MODERNIZED BY OTIS AT YANKEE STADIUM
The NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) unveiled three elevators modernized by Otis at the 161 Street-Yankee Stadium subway station in the Bronx ahead of New York Yankees' Major League Baseball opening day on March 25. Part of larger safety and accessibility upgrades throughout the MTA system, the elevators serve the street to the mezzanine and the mezzanine to the platform. Work included full replacement of the cabs and associated equipment; a new elevator head house with a street-level canopy; modernization of the machine room, encompassing all electrical and mechanical equipment; and upgrades to the remote-monitoring, fire-alarm, intercom and camera systems. SEOUL METRO TO BUILD ON SUCCESS OF ESCALATOR SAFETY CAMPAIGN
South Korea's Seoul Metro plans to build on the success of an escalator safety campaign it conducted during Cherry Blossom festivities — when crowds are at their peak — on April 4, The Asia Business Daily reports. Conducted at Yeouinaru Station on Line 5, the "Escalator Safety Personnel Boarding Campaign" featured Metro personnel boarding escalators holding placards displaying phrases such as "Please stand and do not walk." FUJITEC PARTICIPATES IN ACCESSIBILITY AWARENESS WALK IN YOKOHAMA
Employees from Fujitec’s Technology Research Department and R&D headquarters in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, participated in an accessibility awareness walk hosted by the nonprofit WheeLog organization on March 8 in Yokohama, Japan, Fujitec announced. With an aim to create “a world in which anyone can go anywhere,” WheeLog has developed initiatives like the WheeLog! barrier-free map app that allows users to post information about elevators, handicapped-accessible bathrooms and other facilities for wheelchair users. RESIDENTIAL CONVERSION TO TRANSFORM MIDTOWN MANHATTAN TOWER
Judging from renderings and a description published in March, conversion of a 14-story office building at 906 Fifth Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan, NY, will completely transform the circa-1920s structure. New York YIMBY was among outlets to report in March on its proposed conversion into a 29-story, glass-clad tower offering 66 condominium units and office space.
