SCOTLAND'S CALTECH LIFTS ANNOUNCES NEW BASE AND GM TO FUEL GROWTH
Caltech Lifts, Scotland's leading independent lift firm, announced on December 16 it opened its first permanent base outside its Dundee headquarters (HQ) in Strathclyde Business Park, Bellshill, in Scotland's Central Belt. In addition, it has appointed Craig McLachlan, who has more than 30 years' lift-industry experience, to general manager (GM). He will split his time between the new office and the Dundee HQ, taking charge of Central Belt daily operations to improve systems and processes for better service and efficiency. Read more here
 
ELEVATOR ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA ADJUSTS MEMBERSHIP YEAR
The Elevator Association of Florida (EAOF) has adjusted its membership year from October to October to the calendar year — January 1 to December 31 — which is why no renewal notice was issued earlier this year. Dues for 2026 are US$175 for individual membership and US$250 for corporate membership. To submit dues by check, please make it payable to the Elevator Association of Florida and enter "2026 Dues" in the memo. Read more here

PLANNING FOR CECA 52ND ANNUAL CONVENTION UNDERWAY
Planning for the 52nd Annual Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) Convention, hosted by Garaventa Lift and Richmond Elevator on June 15-18, 2026, in Victoria, British Columbia, is underway. The host hotel is the Double Tree by Hilton, and registration will open in January and remain open through the end of May 2026. The convention and exhibition will take place at the Victoria Convention Centre, with the expo on June 17 and 18. Air Canada discounts are available, and those planning to attend can learn more at the convention website. CECA reminds attendees that only CECA Executive Director Catharine Bothwell or Administrative Assistant Brandy Hancock will contact you regarding convention matters including registration, hotel rooms and attendance lists, so take care to avoid scammers. The only exception may be if you are contacted directly by hosts Garaventa or Richmond, but that would not be about hotels. CECA looks forward to welcoming you to Victoria in June 2026!
 
SMITH JOINS TRIUMPH ELECTRICAL SUPPLY
Jeff Smith has joined Triumph Electrical Supply of Mineola, NY, as national sales director, working closely with Triumph partners at Montanari North America Inc. Located in NYC, Montanari North America was launched in 2024 to supply high-quality traction machines to the North American and Canadian markets. Concept Elevator Group, based in Miami, Florida, recently promoted Orestes Toca to director of plant operations. Toca has been a dedicated member of the Concept Elevator Group team in various roles since 2011 and brings years of leadership and operational expertise to his new role. Germany-based TK Elevator (TKE) is among 35 contractors at Dubai International Airport (DXB) recognized for safety excellence, receiving the first-place Contractor Safety Excellence Award, the Safe Leader Award and the Safe Supervisor Award, TKE announced on December 18. At DXB, where TKE operates and maintains passenger boarding bridges and other airport systems, the OEM introduced innovative safety measures including heat stress-prevention protocols, specialized personal protective equipment and enhanced lockout/tagout procedures. U.K.'S SIMSINLIFTS ANNOUNCES EXPANSION INTO BELGIUM

TRIPP JOINS VDI AS QUICKCAB NATIONAL SALES MANAGER
Jamie Tripp recently joined Seattle, Washington-based Vertical Dimensions Inc. (VDI) — a Vantage brand — as national sales manager for VDI's QuickCab product line. In this new role, he will apply nearly 20 years' experience in design, business development and sales to strengthen VDI's already-robust pipeline of QuickCab elevator interior projects. Tripp's background includes collaborating on elevator projects that require detailing, specification and effective project management. His career includes senior sales roles with Draper Elevator Interiors and Forms + Surfaces, and a strong foundation in technical sales and depth of knowledge about materials and processes promise to effectively bridge the gap between specifying materials and manufacturing elevator interiors. Based in the Boston area, Tripp will implement specific sales strategies and improvements nationwide to achieve immediate results and support Vantage's strategic growth plans.

SITE SERVICE SOFTWARE ACQUIRED BY CORA GROUP
Site Service Software, Inc., an elevator service industry software provider, announced on December 15 it has been acquired by Toronto, Canada-headquartered CORA Group, a division of Constellation Software Inc. Douglas vanden Bosch has been named CEO of both Site Service Software and Total Service, a CORA Group company offering ERP (enterprise resource planning) solutions for the elevator service industry. OTIS TO COLLABORATE ON MALAYSIA TOWER PROJECT
Otis is collaborating with construction company Vestland in Malaysia to deliver SkyRise elevators, Compass® 360 Destination Management System and Otis ONE™ with eView™ smart screens for the upscale residential development Armani Hallson KLCC in downtown Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). The building has three towers. The two Small Office, Versatile Office (SOVO) towers rise 80 stories and feature 18 high-speed SkyRise elevators traveling at up to 7 m/s in banks of nine elevators in each tower. Read more here

JAPAN ELEVATOR MAINTAINED BY NIPPON OTIS TO MARK 100TH ANNIVERSARY
Nippon Otis Elevator Co. has been maintaining Japan's oldest operating elevator at Tohka Saikan, a long-established Chinese restaurant in Kyoto. The historic elevator will mark its 100th anniversary of passenger service in 2026. The Tohka Saikan Restaurant building was completed in 1926. The building – the only restaurant designed by American-born architect William Merrell Vories, famous for buildings including the Hilltop Hotel in Ochanomizu, Tokyo, and the Daimaru department store in Osaka – still retains its original Spanish Baroque-style design. ATIS ACQUIRES BAYLINE LIFT TECHNOLOGIES
St. Louis-based ATIS, a portfolio company of Thompson Street Capital Partners (TSCP) and a top provider of elevator and escalator safety inspections, consulting and managed services across North America, has acquired Bayline Lift Technologies, with corporate headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia. Bayline provides elevator inspection services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. With the backing of ATIS' team and resources, the company is "poised for accelerated growth while continuing to provide high-quality services to its customers," TSCP said in a December 23 press release. ATIS has a team of more than 200 licensed QEI professionals and expert consultants, providing service across the U.S. and Canada to more than 15,000 customers.

TRIUMPH AND MONTANARI LEAD CUSTOMER JOBSITE TOURS IN NYC
Triumph Electrical Supply organized events on November 11 and December 12 offering consultants a chance to see Montanari North America elevator machines in action at customer jobsites throughout NYC, Steve Tomasheski, who handles business strategy for Triumph, tells ELEVATOR WORLD. "In order to make this logistically possible and add a bit of fun, we decided to rent a party bus," Tomasheski said. The next Montanari machine jobsite tour is tentatively planned for late January 2026. Read more here
 
FUJITEC'S EEVI PROVIDES SEVEN HIGH-SPEED ELEVATORS IN TIJUANA
Elevadores EV International, S.A. de C.V. (EEVI), a group company of Japan's Fujitec Co., Ltd., delivered seven 150 m/min ZEXIA elevators to LANDMARK Tijuana Torre II, a high-rise, high-end residential building in Tijuana, Mexico. Acquired by Fujitec in 2022, EEVI has been traditionally strong in vertical-transportation products for low- to mid-rise buildings. By employing Fujitec's technological resources, EEVI was able to respond successfully to demand for high-speed elevators. Read more here

SOUTH KOREA SCENIC SPOT TO GET ELEVATOR
The Mapo District in Seoul, South Korea, plans to install an elevator and a connecting bridge on the retaining wall between 2-111 and 3-200 Changjeon-dong at Wayusan, one of the eight scenic spots in the Mapo District, The Asia Business Daily reports. With the elevator, the time needed to reach the trail, which currently takes 15 min, is expected to be reduced to less than 5 min. The project is scheduled for completion by April 2026. EUROBUILD EXPO 2026 INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR PLANNED IN UKRAINE
EuroBuild Expo 2026, the XV International Trade Fair, is planned on October 13-15, 2026, at the International Exhibition Centre at 15 Brovarskyi Avenue in Kyiv, Ukraine. There will be eight themed sections: Construction, Architecture; Windows and Doors; Building Materials and Construction; Energy-Efficient Homes; Concrete Plants; Finishing Materials; Interior Décor; and Lift Equipment. CVU PLANS VU SUMMIT RIYADH & DUBAI 2026
The Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU) plans to host the VU Summit Riyadh & Dubai 2026 on September 21-25, 2026, under the theme "Density and Identity: Shaping Skylines, Elevating Culture. EXTELL SECURES US$1.13-BILLION LOAN TO BUILD MANHATTAN SUPERTALL
Extell Development founder and President Gary Barnett secured a US$1.13-billion construction loan from Tyko Capital to build a 74-story, 1,162-ft-tall supertall with 154 residences and 233,000 ft2 of commercial space at 655 Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, NY, The Real Deal New York reports. Involving a rezoning application for the 765,000-ft2 structure, the plan secured the largest construction financing package in NYC in 2025. Read more here
