The program allows approved elevator agencies to perform acceptance tests for new elevator installations, alterations or modernization work. These acceptance tests must be performed in the presence of a witnessing elevator agency, which cannot be affiliated with the elevator work or the approved elevator agency that performed that work. (CMRL) in India has received and accepted two bids for construction of entry/exist structures that will enable additional escalators to be built along Corridor 5, Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro Rail project, outlets including Metro Rail News report. Stretching 47 km with 45 stations, including 39 at grade level or elevated, between Madharavaram and Sholinganuallur, Corridor 5 is also known as the Red Line and is among CMRL Phase 2 projects slated for completion by the end of 2028. The winning bidders for the entry/exit structures are Saraswathi Engineering Construction Ltd. and Priya Engineering Projects Pvt. Ltd. Work will include civil, architectural and finishing work for the elevated stations along Corridor 5. TOSHIBA'S ELEVATOR STAKE COULD SHIFT TO KONE OR ANOTHER PLAYER Japan's Toshiba could divest part or all of its approximately 80% stake in Toshiba Elevator & Building Systems as Finland's KONE — which already owns slightly less than 20% of Toshiba Elevator — is among likely potential buyers of more shares, The Japan Times is among outlets to report, citing Bloomberg and "people with knowledge of the matter." KONE has expressed its interest in increasing its stake in Toshiba Elevator in discussions with the Japanese group, the source said. Serving as vice chair alongside Auston for the last two years, he has also been a member of LEEA's Technical Committee. Cormack has spent his entire career in the lifting industry, having started as an apprentice with Coubro & Scrutton – a founder member and keen supporter of the Chain Testers Association, which evolved into LEEA.
