REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR ELEVCON 2025 IN LISBON

KONE LAUNCHES MINISPACE DX ELEVATOR IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
KONE announced on December 10 the launch of its High-Rise MiniSpaceTM DX elevator in Southeast Asia. The launch is described by KONE as a timely prelude to the company's Rise strategy, which it will implement in Southeast Asia from 2025-2030 to bolster growth and profitability in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Featuring the latest sensor technology and ultra-compact machine-room requirements, the KONE High-Rise MiniSpace DX elevator boasts high speed and large capacity. Its travel height is at least 60 floors, and it is capable of cutting energy usage by up to 30% on a typical day. The elevator comes with KONE UltraRope®, which is 80% lighter than traditional steel rope and three times more durable. KONE's Rise strategy represents four strategic shifts from its current strategy. These include accelerating digital, intelligent technology; focusing on modernizing current infrastructure; penetrating the residential building market; and cutting carbon by utilizing energy-efficient technologies and sustainable materials. 
 
AXXIOM ELEVATOR APPOINTS MCCRACKEN AS CFO
Axxiom Elevator, a rapidly expanding independent elevator services company doing business in Arizona, California, Florida and the Washington, D.C., area, announced on December 5 it appointed Cody McCracken as chief financial officer (CFO). In his role as CFO, McCracken will oversee all aspects of Axxiom's financial operations including accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury and board relations. Read more here

The Elevator Conference of New York (ECNY) has announced its 2025 scholarship program, which will offer a minimum of two US$5,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are graduating in 2025. WILDECK COMPLETES NEW HQ IN WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN

BABICH NAMED VP OF SALES AT HAL-BRANT ELEVATOR
Industry veteran John Babich recently announced he has been named vice president (VP) of sales at Burlington, Ontario-based Hal-Brant Elevator Services Ltd. KJA HIRES MACFADYEN AS NATIONAL ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE
KJA Consultants, part of ATIS Ascenda Partners, announced it has named Christina Macfadyen as national account executive. Based in Toronto, Ontario, Macfadyen started her new job in November. Otis announced on December 3 it won an order to provide the vertical-transportation (VT) system for the 68-story Dawn KLCC mixed-use building in the center of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Awarded by Chin Hin Group Property, the order includes seven SkyRise® and three AriseTM elevators. Scheduled for completion in 2029, "this architectural marvel will feature lifestyle suites, luxury serviced residences and a vibrant sky bar offering breathtaking view of the Kuala Lumpur city center," Otis observed. KONE INDIA LAUNCHES SMART ELEVATOR SERIES AT ISEE EVENT
KONE India unveiled its I MonoSpace® SMART, KONE I MiniSpace™ and KONE A MonoSpace SMART elevators at the International Sourcing Exposition (ISEE) for Elevators in India, Realty+ reports. These models are the first elevators in the industry that are fully compliant with the new IS 17900 safety standards. Powered by advanced Programmable Electronic System in Safety-Related Applications for Lifts (PESSRAL) technology, they feature fail-safe redundancy with dual-channel safety controllers to ensure a seamless transition to safe operation modes during anomalies. OTIS AWARDED ECOVADIS GOLD MEDAL FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Otis Worldwide Corp. announced on December 9 it has been awarded a Gold Medal by the EcoVadis global sustainability rating platform. This the third straight assessment in which Otis achieved the Gold rating — ranking in the top 5% of the more than 130,000 companies assessed by the platform. The EcoVadis rating system uses 21 criteria to measure companies' efforts across four areas of corporate social responsibility and sustainability: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Otis Vice President of Environmental, Social and Governance Caroline Coursant said the designation "demonstrates that we continue to pursue and execute on sustainable strategies that drive value for our key stakeholders." Other recent recognitions for the global elevator and escalator OEM include being named among America's Greenest Companies, the World's Most Trustworthy Companies, World's Best Employers, America's Most Responsible Companies and World's Most Admired Companies.
 
DELAYS IN ELEVATOR REGISTRATION IN INDIA
Nearly two months after the Uttar Pradesh government in India introduced the Lift and Escalator Rules, 2024, for elevator safety, none of the 80,000 lifts across 350 Noida high-rise building have been registered, Prop News Time reports. The legislation passed in February and was notified in September to mandate registration, maintenance and safety checks for elevators and escalators. Read more here

BROKEN ESCALATORS AT KEY LONDON DLR STATION SPARK ANGER
All four escalators connecting the three floors of the Cutty Sark Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in south-east London have been broken for the past two months, sparking anger among public officials and frustration among users, The Standard is among outlets to report. Transport for London (TfL) maintains the station's vertical-transportation equipment, which also includes one small lift. Read more here
 
32 NEW ELEVATORS TO BE INSTALLED IN MALDIVES TOWERS
Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) of the Maldives Fazul Rasheed announced that two elevators will be installed in each tower of the Hiyaa flats in Hulhumalé, one of which can accommodate stretchers and one with a capacity of 14 people, The Edition reports. TAOPING SIGNS NON-BINDING LETTER OF INTENT TO ACQUIRE CHINESE SMART SOLUTIONS COMPANY
Taoping Inc. has signed a non-binding letter of intent to acquire 100% of Shenzhen Yunti Internet of Things, a Smart elevator solutions provider, Stock Titan is among outlets to report. Founded in 2016, Yunti offers end-to-end smart elevator solutions and operates two core platforms: the SaaS (Software as a Service)-based Tishibao elevator management Cloud service and Tishibang, China's first private market elevator internet service platform. If the acquisition happens, it is expected to open new revenue growth opportunities for Taoping while further consolidating and expanding the company's market share in the elevator equipment and service industry, StreetInsider.com reports. The transaction is subject to due diligence, definitive agreement, board approval and regulatory clearances with an expected closing timeline of 12 months.
