TEI PROMOTES LURASCHI TO VP OF SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT

CEA INVITES MEMBERS AND PARTNERS TO FEBRUARY MEETING

John Mezzo, president of NYC-based Dynasty Elevator, announced the fifth annual Louis J. The Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) has issued a reminder about upcoming winter/spring events. LT MERGES WITH RICARDO TO EXPAND HOME ELEVATOR REACH IN INDIA
LT Elevator Ltd., a provider of elevators and automated parking solutions headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, announced its Board of Directors approved a merger with Hyderabad, Telangana, India-based Ricardo Elevators, marking a major expansion into the premium home elevator market for LT, Machine Maker reports. TEI ANNOUNCES NEW VP OF SALES AND MARKETING — NORTHEAST

OTIS SELECTED FOR LONDON UNDERGROUND ESCALATOR MODERNIZATION
Transport for London (TfL) selected Otis to deliver a comprehensive escalator service and modernization program for 172 units across the London Underground, Otis announced on January 8. Starting in April, the contract will bring the total number of units serviced by Otis to more than 300 across the entire network — helping to support 1.2 billion passenger journeys annually on the London Underground. DELCO ELEVATOR PRODUCTS PARTNERS WITH MEGA ELEVATOR PARTS
Delco Elevator Products, headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, has partnered with MEGA Elevator Parts, with locations in New York and Florida, to bring Delco's product line directly to customers in the Miami market. LIFT, ESCALATOR WORK UNDERWAY AT U.K. SEASIDE RESORT MALL
Work to repair the lift and escalator at Fleet Walk, a mall in the seaside town of Torquay on the southwestern coast of England, is underway and expected to be completed later this year, the Torbay Council reports. The Council is working with Fleet Walk asset manager Milligan to "ensure a reliable and efficient system that seamlessly connects all levels of the car park with the shops, Fleet Street and surrounding areas." TEI GROUP GAINS MAJOR TRACTION IN THE SOUTHEAST
NYC-headquartered TEI Group gained major traction in the Southeast with its recent expansion to Alabama, Georgia and further across Florida. "Our Southeast expansion, from Tampa, Tallahassee, Miami, Alabama, Jacksonville and Georgia (in March) brings us closer to our customers while laying the foundation for growth beyond," Principal and Executive Vice President (VP) Southeast Chad Posey said. Headquartered in Birmingham, the Alabama office is being led by VP of Sales Michael Smith, a vertical-transportation professional with 13 years' experience, alongside VP of Operations Duff Whitmire. With more than 25 years' experience, Whitmire worked his way up from field operations into leadership and has been instrumental in developing TEI's Alabama region. The Jacksonville/Orlando, Florida, office is being led by East Florida Area Manager Donnie Chappell, who has more than 20 years' experience and worked his way up from field helper.

KONE ESCALATOR PROJECT COMPLETE AT TENNESSEE AIRPORT
Just prior to Christmas 2025, a new set of KONE escalators serving the McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Tennessee just south of Knoxville became operational, a relief for travelers who had been dealing with out-of-commission escalators for months, Yahoo News reports, citing the Knoxville News Sentinel. Originating from 2000, the escalators take passengers from the main terminal floor down to the baggage claim and car rental areas. Read more here
 
BRONX SUBWAY STATION GETS ELEVATOR UPDATES
The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority recently announced station upgrades and the opening of two modernized elevators at the Parkchester 6 subway station in Bronx, NY. In addition to the elevators and two new staircases, crews made accessibility improvements and system upgrades. Two additional Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant staircases, an accessible fare array and a replacement escalator are expected to open at the station in February. The Parkchester 6 station serves more than 7,000 daily riders. Approximately 95% of the US$92-million project was federally funded with support from the Federal Transit Administration. The design-build team for the Parkchester station upgrades is a joint venture between J-Track & TC Electric. The designer is AECOM, and the elevator manufacturer, installer and maintainer is Modern Elevators.
OTIS PROVIDING 10 UNITS FOR NEW SOCCER STADIUM IN QUEENS
Otis tells ELEVATOR WORLD it is providing 10 new vertical-transportation (VT) units for the new Etihad Park Major League Soccer (MLS) stadium taking shape at 126-87 Willets Boulevard in Queens, NY. The VT system consists of five Gen3TM Edge and three Gen3 Peak elevators, and two LinkTM escalators. A US$20-million, 20-year naming rights agreement with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the U.A.E., set the name of the stadium, which is being entirely privately funded and slated for completion in 2027. SWIFTCONNECT ACQUIRES TRECERDO
SwiftConnect, a provider of the connected access network for places and spaces, headquartered in Connecticut with a strong presence in NYC, has announced the acquisition of Trecerdo, a Connecticut-based boutique engineering firm known for its embedded software development and hardware-level access control integrations. Trecerdo's expertise in bridging access control platforms with downstream hardware and elevator destination-dispatch systems will strengthen SwiftConnect's end-to-end integration capabilities and expand the company's ability to serve complex, multi-layered security environments. Trecerdo also brings its off-the-shelf Ascend elevator solution that connects access control systems with elevator destination-dispatch stacks in any high-rise environment. Trecerdo's embedded software development offering will become part of SwiftConnect's custom solutions portfolio. This combined skillset creates a complete custom integration offering by SwiftConnect. Trecerdo's team of veteran developers will join the SwiftConnect custom solutions group, effective immediately.

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON LANDMARK NTT HIBIYA TOWER IN TOKYO
Construction officially began in December 2025 on the 230-m-tall, 361,000-m2 NTT Hibiya Tower, which will serve as the new global headquarters for tech company NTT and "redefine the role of the corporate skyscraper through advanced digital infrastructure, sustainability and mixed-use urban design," the Council on Vertical Urbanism reports. UPGRADED ELEVATORS OPEN AT TWO VANCOUVER STATIONS
TransLink completed the first phase of elevator replacements at Nanaimo and 22nd Street SkyTrain stations in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, marking an important milestone in the Expo Line Elevator Replacement Program. Two upgraded elevators at each station opened on December 24, 2025. These new elevators replace 40-year-old infrastructure with modern, more spacious units designed to improve accessibility and reliability for customers, including these features: more room for customers with mobility devices, strollers, bikes and luggage; better reliability and reduced downtime for maintenance; and better resilience in warm weather. Replacement has moved into the next phase at both stations with construction on additional elevators in progress.
