KONE is Finland's top-ranked company in the machinery manufacturing peer group and is the highest performing elevator and escalator company on the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World list. Within the broader "Machinery" industry group, KONE placed second among 397 companies worldwide. KONE has set ambitious, science-based climate targets for 2030 and is on track to achieve them. The company offers solutions that enhance product energy efficiency and help reduce both its own and its customers' carbon footprint. KONE also collaborates closely with suppliers to lower the carbon footprint of its key materials. Beyond environmental goals, KONE is committed to creating an inclusive and safe workplace. To measure progress, it has established clear targets for advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and safety across its entire value chain. The 2026 Global 100 ranking was formed by analyzing more than 8,000 large publicly listed companies with revenues of over US$1 billion. While housing sales across the top seven cities declined by 14% year-on-year to about 3.96 lakh units, the total transaction value rose 6%, crossing INR 6 lakh crore — a clear signal that higher ticket sizes and premium housing are now driving the market. This divergence between volume and value reflects a structural shift underway in Indian housing. After a muted price phase between 2015 and 2019, residential prices surged nearly 54% during 2019-24, aided by post-pandemic recovery, infrastructure spending and consolidation among large developers. In 2025, price growth moderated to a healthier ~8%, pointing to a more sustainable and end-user-driven market. | | | BUDGET 2026 EXPECTATIONS: DEVELOPERS URGE POLICY SUPPORT | As expectations build ahead of the Union Budget 2026, real estate industry leaders are calling for focused policy interventions to strengthen housing affordability, sustain end-user confidence and accelerate urban and infrastructure-led growth. Prashant Sharma, president, NAREDCO Maharashtra, said, "The real estate sector continues to be a critical driver of economic growth, employment generation and allied industries. In the upcoming Union Budget, the industry is hopeful of measures that further strengthen end-user demand, enhance affordability and accelerate project execution. Granting infrastructure status to housing, especially affordable and mid-income segments, would significantly improve access to institutional finance and reduce borrowing costs for developers. We strongly urge the government to revisit tax benefits for homebuyers by increasing the deduction limits on home loan interest and principal repayment under Sections 24(b) and 80C, which have remained unchanged for years." | | | FUJITEC ACHIEVES CDP CLIMATE CHANGE 2025 B SCORE | Japan's Fujitec Co., Ltd. obtained a B score in the climate change category from CDP, a U.K.-based non-profit organization that operates a global environmental information disclosure system, Fujitec President and CEO Masayoshi Harada announced on January 22. CDP gives evaluations from D- to A based on answers participants provide to an annual questionnaire. The B score indicates CDP's assessment that Fujitec is positioned at the "Management Level," meaning the company is recognized for being aware of and acting on its environmental risks and impacts concerning climate change. Fujitec identifies "efforts to reduce environmental impacts" as one of its sustainability goals. In its mid-term business plan, it also discloses that part of its "Move On 5" initiative is to achieve a 46% reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared with 2019. To achieve this, in fiscal 2024 Fujitec began switching to hybrid vehicles for its corporate fleet and introducing solar power generation at production sites both in Japan and overseas. | | | OTIS EXPANDS LITTLE ENGINEERS PROGRAM GLOBALLY | Otis announced it is making its successful Little Engineers program available everywhere the company does business.
