The Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) Board of Directors (BoD) decided at its recent meeting to rename one of the CECA Elevating Devices scholarships in honor of past member the late Walter Guderian. Minnesota-headquartered APi Group Corp. on June 5 announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of Tampa, Florida-headquartered Elevated Facility Services Group for approximately US$570 million from a fund managed by L Squared Capital Partners. Part of CEDES Group since 2011, Peter Grüninger recently took on a new role with the Switzerland-based company: customer success manager, joining the sales team. Grüninger previously led the Application Engineering/Development department, a role he held for more than 12 years. On May 31 and 30, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) introduced a rebuilt escalator and a new canopy on Market Street at the Embarcadero and Montgomery stations, respectively, Hoodline was among outlets to report. A lawsuit filed by owners of condominiums in the 96-story, 1,296-ft-tall 432 Park Avenue on Billionaires' Row in Manhattan is casting a shadow over the future of one of the Big Apple's most-luxurious buildings, the Daily Mail is among outlets to report. They allege faulty elevators, leaking plumbing and noise issues, and the lawsuit has created approximately 4 million pages of court documents since it was filed in 2021. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), in collaboration with Mexico City-based Estudio AMA and interior designer Esrawe Studio, has revealed a new 190-m-tall mixed-use tower in Guadalajara, Mexico, which broke ground in May and is slated to become the tallest building in the Andares Zapopan district of the city, Arch Daily reports. PLANS REVEALED FOR NEW 40-STORY TOWER IN LONDON
Multinational investor Axa IM Alts has unveiled designs from Fletcher Priest for a 40-story tower at 63 St Mary Axe in the City of London, Building Design reports. The tower is the latest addition to the growing cluster of skyscrapers near Bishopsgate, with DP9 acting as planning consultant and Kanda working on communications. The tower would replace two 1980s buildings on an island site bordering Camomile Street. Images show a tower elevated on columns above a recessed podium block covered in extensive planting and surrounded by trees. The planting would extend up the sides of the tower and across an upper half, which slants diagonally on one side, culminating in three double-height levels at its crown.
