Read more here | | | THE ELEVATOR SHOW DUBAI 2024 COMING IN SEPTEMBER | | | The Elevator Show (TES) Dubai 2024 will be held on September 16-18 to the iconic Dubai World Trade Centre. He holds a BA in international business with a focus on intercultural studies from the Heilbronn University of Technology, Economics and Computer Science. | | | SICOR ITALY TO START SERVICING U.K., FRANCE AND GERMANY MARKETS | | | Italian manufacturer Sicor Italy Srl will start servicing markets in the U.K., France and Germany directly from its facilities in Italy starting June 1. Global1 Partner entities — distribution agents and those within the trading network of Fermator Europe — no longer represent the Sicor brand, effective immediately. "The Sicor organization seeks to improve and better accommodate its sales network and strengthen its pre- and after-sales service in these areas," Sicor said. | | | CIBES LIFT GROUP ACQUIRES MORNING STAR ELEVATOR | Cibes Lift Group has entered into an agreement to acquire Colorado-based Morning Star Elevator, a leading distributor in the residential elevator and vertical platform lift segment. This strategic acquisition aims to strengthen Cibes' position in the U.S. and open new business opportunities in the Colorado market. TKE CEO Uday Yadav said the report, "Moved by What Moves People," captures TKE's commitment to ensuring inclusive, environmentally efficient urban mobility as populations age. Read more here | | | NEW ELEVATOR SAFETY RULE IN SPAIN TO HAVE BIG IMPACT | The Spanish Government has introduced new legislation that will force building owners to modernize between 35 and 40% of the nation's elevators, Murcia Today reports. Spain has the most lifts installed per person with more than 400,000 having been in service for more than 30 years. The standard for the new safety requirements — Complementary Technical Instruction ITC AEM 1 for Elevators, as published in the Official State Gazette on April 13 — will come into force on July 1. Read more here | | | SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT FOR THE EW PROJECT OF THE YEAR AWARDS | | | Submissions are now being accepted for the ELEVATOR WORLD 27th Annual Project of the Year Awards. We are seeking submissions of projects featuring vertical, horizontal or inclined transportation systems with an innovative design, special application or approach that solved a major problem or overcame a unique challenge. Projects will be judged on innovation, originality and creativity, challenges overcome, installation methods and techniques and use of advanced technology and overall quality of presentation. This year's categories are Elevators, New Construction; Elevators, Modernization; Escalators, New Construction; Escalators, Modernization; Moving Walks; Inclined Elevators; Platform Lifts & Stairway Chairlifts; Private-Residence Elevators; and Special-Purpose Lifts. All entries will be judged and categorized as received by an impartial panel of experienced industry experts and professionals. Winning entries will be published in the January 2025 issue of ELEVATOR WORLD. Winners in each category will be acknowledged with an award of recognition. The submission deadline is September 30. | | | CIA TO HOST ONLINE CAN AND CANOPEN SEMINARS IN JUNE | The Germany-based nonprofit CAN in Automation (CiA) association plans to host online seminars on June 18 and 19 from 1-5 p.m. UTC on Control Area Network (CAN) technology, which is widely used in automotive and industrial applications and is the basis for communicating with CANopen and DeviceNet protocols. Read more here | | | PRAGUE TO BEGIN CHARGING FEE FOR RIDING CITY HALL PATERNOSTER | Starting in June, visitors who wish to ride the vintage paternoster lift at Prague City Hall must pay 250 Czech crowns, or the equivalent of approximately US$11, to do so, Radio Prague International reports. The "infinity," jump-on, jump-off lift has become a major tourist attraction, and some tourists don't respect safety instructions or capacity limits, Prague City Spokeswoman Lenkak Davidová tells the source. Read more here | | | ELEVATOR INDUSTRY'S ENERGY-EFFICIENCY SOLUTIONS HIGHLIGHTED | Energyworld.com, a division of The Economic Times, on May 10 highlighted the elevator industry's "innovative solutions" for minimizing energy consumption as concerns over climate change and energy efficiency mount and buildings climb ever higher. Elevators can consume up to 10% of a building's total energy, with elevator energy consumption becoming "a significant factor in the overall energy management of urban infrastructure," the source observed. Read more here | | | SCHMERSAL RECEIVES BEST MANAGED COMPANIES AWARD FOR SECOND YEAR | The Schmersal Group, headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, has received the Best Managed Companies Award for the second year in a row, the company announced on May 24. Presented by consulting and auditing firm Deloitte Private and the German Federal Association of German Industry, the award is given to small and medium-sized enterprises that demonstrate exceptional management in four different areas: strategy; productivity and innovation; culture and commitment; and finance and governance. Read more here | | | KONE CEO: DIGITALIZATION AND SUSTAINABILITY HOLD PROMISE IN CHINA | KONE CEO Philippe Delorme said the Finland-based OEM plans to further invest in China, particularly in the areas of digitalization and sustainability, which he described as the most important elevator industry trends both globally and in China, Bastille Post Global is among outlets to report. In an interview with China Central Television, Delorme observed that China has "vastly adopted digital technologies" in the past 10 years, as it works toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. Developer Landsec is handling the refurbishment, which will be "net zero in both construction and operation while reimagining an iconic landmark into a modern office-led, mixed-use development."
