Read more here CHANGES TO PUBLIC SAFETY ACT TO HELP ELEVATOR INSPECTIONS The government of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada is making an amendment to the Public Safety Act in hopes of speeding up elevator inspections, the CBC reports. This comes just days after a heated exchange in the House of Assembly over the fact that approximately 65% of elevator inspections required in 2024 didn't happen. The province requires all elevators to be inspected once a year, but there are only three government inspectors. Read more here DL CONSTRUCTION DEVELOPS ECO-FRIENDLY ELEVATOR PIT TECHNOLOGY DL Construction, a leading construction company in Korea, obtained a green technology certification from the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups in April, ChosunBiz reports. The certification recognizes the excellence of the "corrosion-resistant elevator pit construction technology" developed with Lotte Engineering & Construction, Doosan and Jaytech E&C. DL Construction found that constructing elevator pits with a steel structure using corrosion-resistant plates, side seals and multi-purpose plates instead of the existing cast-in-place concrete method reduced the excavation depth and decreased the amount of reinforced concrete used for the foundation. The company found that the amount of steel used can be reduced by approximately 72% compared to existing technology, and the amount of concrete used can be reduced by about 84%, significantly conserving material usage.
