Read more here OHIO APPROVES ELEVATOR PROJECT AT STATE PENITENTIARY The Ohio Controlling Board has approved a request to release more than US$4.2 million for renovations at the Ohio State Penitentiary in Youngstown, 21 WFMJ reports. The funds will be used to contract with Murphy Contracting Co. for the construction phase of an elevator replacement project at the prison. The project will involve replacing six elevators and their associated electrical systems, as well as the installation of new electrical controls. The SoVT builds on the legacy of the well-established CIBSE Lifts Group. The new society formalizes this foundation, offering a recognized structure for professional membership, specialist continuing professional development, collaboration and international engagement. The Jefferson County Council recently approved using US$150,000 from the library's rainy-day fund to finance repairs to the elevator, which was installed in 1966. Five bids were sought for the elevator upgrade, and Executive Elevator of Louisville submitted an offer. Read more here 10 INJURED IN CHAIN-REACTION ESCALATOR FALL IN HONG KONG Ten elderly people were injured in a chain-reaction escalator fall at a mall in Hong Kong on September 21, The Standard is among outlets to report. A woman fell at the bottom of the escalator, resulting in a "domino effect" of the trailing elderly passengers falling and sustaining head injuries and fractures. The escalator was shut off in the wake of the "chaotic" incident as injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital. They had been attending a charity event at a restaurant in the mall.
