SCHINDLER R.I.S.E ROBOT IMPLEMENTED IN SINGAPORE
Schindler's world-first elevator shaft installation robot, Robotic Installation System for Elevators (R.I.S.E), was implemented at the 35-story Shaw Tower in downtown Singapore. Originally opening in 1975, the tower has been completely redesigned by Aedas and has since become the first Grade A office tower to achieve Green Mark Platinum certification according to Singapore's Building and Construction Authority 2021 standards. One of five R.I.S.E systems being deployed worldwide, the robot arrived in Singapore in April and completed its task in June. The robot maneuvers itself along the building's elevator shaft with precision and speed to install components using drilling and anchor bolt installation tools. The hot, dusty and grueling work traditionally performed by construction professionals is, with the robot, limited to a specialist operator who monitors the robot's movements via a remote-control panel. "With (R.I.S.E's) speed and accuracy, we achieved time savings and improved safety outcomes compared to convention installation methods," Shaw Towers Realty General Manager Alfred Yeung said.

TEEN HELPS COMMUNITY CENTER SECURE NEW ELEVATOR
New Haven, Connecticut's Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) unanimously approved a plan to install a new elevator that was partly written and presented by 18-year-old New Haven Public Schools graduate and legal intern Ethan Masoperh, the New Haven Independent reports. The new elevator will be installed at the Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership (LEAP) community center on Jefferson Street. The BZA approved three exceptions to normal building rules for LEAP's building at 29 – 31 Jefferson Street, which allow the building to take up 85% of the lot, be only 5 ft, 6 in. from the side property line and have a side wall height of 44 ft. These exceptions allow for the New Haven Housing Authority and LEAP to install a Schindler 3300 machine-room-less traction elevator that will serve all three floors and the roof of the century-old building. Designed by Kenneth Boroson Architects, the new elevator is part of broader renovations that aim to make the building fully Americans with Disabilities Act accessible and improve access to youth programs in the Wooster Square neighborhood.
