    We spent high school summers working as an outdoor maintenance man (correction: maintenance boy) for a private lake community. One of our duties was participating in the fireworks show the owners put on from the island in the middle of the lake. It was fun. Slightly dangerous in a thrilling way. Now, as an adult, an actual man, we can’t tell you the last time we purchased a firework. Something about lighting our own money on fire just doesn’t give us the same thrill. Happy Fourth. Fingers crossed others don’t have our same allergy, so we can see some explosions in the sky while we waft in the glorious scent of heat and meat.
What to DoPainters have been working on our place all week. Great guys. They sing while they work and so we’re typing to you with some pleasant Spanish melodies coming from the other room. We scored some serious bonus points with them on day one. They were speaking in Spanish. “That’s a lot of cabinets,” one said. And so we chimed in, in Spanish, “Yes. A f*ckload.” They got a kick out of us knowing a slang word like that. So keep this one in your back pocket: Un Chingo. Pronounced: oon-cheen-go.
