Aren's leadership promises to drive growth in the France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Nordic markets. A Swiss national, Ming is a partner at consulting firm Bain & Co., and has more than 30 years' experience in industrial and management consulting, including with Schindler. Read more here | | | ITALIAN COMPONENTS DISTRIBUTOR DONATI ACQUIRES ELVACENTER | | | Donati S.p.A., a distributor of elevator and escalator components headquartered in Milan, Italy, announced on January 14 it has acquired Elvacenter, a company active in Belgium and the Netherlands. The acquisition consolidates Donati's leadership position in Europe with more than 16,000 items in stock and 5,000 customers, achieving more than EUR38 million (US$28.7 million) in aggregated revenue. Read more here | | | REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR LIFTEX 2025 IN LONDON | | | Organizers of LIFTEX 2025, the U.K.'s only dedicated exhibition for the lift, escalator and access industry, announce that free registration for the event, planned on June 11-12 at ExCeL in London, is open. Organized by the Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA) with Oliver Greening as show director, LIFTEX will bring together manufacturers, suppliers, installers and specifiers of vertical-transportation products and services. Read more here | | | VT INDUSTRY PLAYERS TO BE ON HAND AT MIPIM 2025 IN FRANCE | | | Several major vertical-transportation (VT) industry players plan to be on hand for MIPIM (Le marché international des professionnels de l'immobilier, French for "The International Market for Property Professionals") on March 11-14 at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. In 2024, MIPIM featured more than 20,000 attendees, more than 300 booths and more than 90 countries. The annual event "brings together the most influential players in the real estate industry," including architects, developers, financiers, municipalities and consultants. Read more here | | | KONE'S 4Q 2024 EARNINGS BEAT ESTIMATE | Finnish OEM KONE posted 4th Quarter (4Q) 2024 earnings on January 30 that were above estimates and expects its adjusted profit margin to improve in 2025 and its sales to grow slightly, Reuters is among outlets to report. KONE CEO Philippe Delorme said the company continues to grow at a healthy rate, with orders increasing more than 10% outside of China. Read more here | | | ELEVATOR BRINGS ACCESSIBILITY TO SOUTHERN SPAIN MUNICIPALITY | | | Torremolinos in Andalusia, southern Spain, has opened a new panoramic elevator connecting La BaterÃa Park and the La Carihuela neighborhood, bringing new accessibility to the municipality, Euro Weekly News reports. Manufactured and installed by Ascensores Embarba S.A., based in Malaga, Spain, the new facility represents an investment of nearly EUR900,000 (US$935,857) for Torremolinos. Read more here | | | WALLEN APPOINTED MD OF HYDROWARE AS GERMANY TAKES PRECEDENCE | Sweden-based Hydroware GmbH announced that David Wallen, with an impressive track record in the German lift market, has been appointed managing director (MD), effective in March. Wallen succeeds Volker Hager, whom Hydroware thanked for his contributions over the past seven years in shaping the company. With an academic background in mechatronics, Wallen began his career with other companies in the early 2000s as an on-site installer for new lifts before moving on to assembly foreman, and later, sales engineer. Located in the Knowledge Corner in King's Cross, TRIBECA consists of four buildings with approximately 1 million ft2 of high-quality workspace, state-of-the-art laboratories, residential, retail, green space and amenities. Read more here | | | FIRE IN ELEVATOR SHAFT LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF BODY | Firefighters responded on February 4 to a fire outbreak in the elevator shaft of the International Congress Centrum (ICC) in Berlin, Germany, The Munich Eye reports. The fire was extinguished swiftly, but the operation led to the discovery of a body within the elevator. According to a spokesperson, the fire ignited in an elevator shaft and was quickly controlled. Read more here | | | SPAIN SKI LIFT INCIDENT LEADS TO INJURIES | A chairlift accident at the Astún resort, located in the Aragon region of the Spanish Pyrenees mountains near the border with France, has left 10 people injured, including two women in intensive care, BBC News is among outlets to report. The incident seems to be the result of a pulley failure that caused a cable to slacken and some chairs to drop to the ground, throwing skiers into the snow.
